Bjorn RunquistBjorn Runquist will start our summer series with his three day workshop “Painting Plein-Air: In and Out of the Studio.” The workshop will be an introduction to the basics and will focus on the dynamics of building a painting, both as plein-air exercise and as a studio painting. Particular emphasis will be on capturing light and its use as a compositional element. Bjorn was born in Stockholm, Sweden, grew up in New York and spent his high school years in France before returning to the US for college. For the last 35 years Bjorn Runquist has made his home in Connecticut and Clark Island, Maine, where he is now a full time resident. He has been teaching and painting for 35 years in a variety of mediums, and began showing in galleries in the early ‘80’s. He has shown widely in galleries on the East Coast, and has been teaching painting workshops for the past 13 years both here and abroad. He is currently represented by Landing Gallery in Rockland, ME. He has shown at the Bruce Museum in Greenwich, CT; the Farnsworth Museum in Rockland, ME; and the Allan Stone gallery in New York.
